Obituary
Joyce A. Skelton, 59, passed away at 6:52 a.m. on
June 25, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center of
Springfield.
Joyce was born on November 11, 1955 in Springfield,
daughter of Charles William “Bill” and Elsie D.
Janssen Gurnsey. She married Dean Skelton on June 8,
1977 in Middletown. He survives her.
Also surviving Joyce is her mother: Elsie Gurnsey of
Petersburg, two children; Michelle (Jeff) Killion of
Elkhart, and Adam (Catherine) Skelton of
Springfield; one brother: David Gurnsey of
California; six grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her father.
Joyce was a member of the Middletown United
Methodist Church, the Middletown American Legion
Auxiliary, she was the Middletown Village Clerk, and
enjoyed being around children.
Services for Joyce will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday
July 1, 2015 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home
in Lincoln, with Stacy Popejoy officiating.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday June 30, 2015
also at the funeral home. A burial at Camp Butler
National Cemetery in Springfield, will be held at
1:00 p.m. Wednesday July 1, 2015.
Memorials may be given to the KCB Library in
Middletown.
