 Jobs for Life offers a unique solution to poverty and
joblessness by equipping participants with skills to meet the
pressing employment needs of local businesses. This is an 8-week
course that will cover a variety of topics including: conflict
resolution, effective communication skills, and how to develop a
stellar resume.
“One of the unique qualities of Jobs for Life is that it
relies on a network of volunteers or ‘champions’ to commit to
mentoring the students and forming relationships. Jobs for Life
helps those in need find dignity and purpose through meaningful
work,” shares Alison Rumler-Gomez, Executive Director of Community
Action. Brittany Cline, Outreach Coordinator at Home Sweet Home
Ministries adds that the collaboration between the two organizations
is key to the success of Jobs for Life, “The impact that can be made
on the lives of program participants is part of the shared vision
that Home Sweet Home Ministries has with its neighbors in the
Lincoln and Logan County area. It’s why we invested in expanding our
services in the area.”
Partnerships with local business are another key component of Jobs
for Life.
Lesleigh Bennett from Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Homes
(business partner of JFL) stated: "I am excited to be part of the
Jobs for Life Program. I cannot wait to see the positive impact that
the program has on our community. Finally! A program that addresses
the causes of un/under employment and works with individuals to
change the cycle.”
