ATLANTA
- Besides its tasty Blue Plate lunches, Atlanta's Palms Grill Cafe
is all about homemade pie, so everyone is invited to celebrate "Pi"
day today at The Grill.

"Pi" day, as it is called, is a reference to the Greek letter pi
(π), which stands for a never-changing ratio of the circumference of
a circle to its diameter. It is equal to 3.14, followed by an
infinite set of other digits beyond its decimal point.
Math lover, Larry Shaw, decided back in 1988 that March 14 would
make a great "holiday" since its date is written as 3/14. Folks are
especially
excited this year because the next two digits after the commonly
known 3.14 are "15" which means 3/14/15 is a once in a lifetime
occurrence!
Because the next digits in the pi sequence after 3.1415 are "926" a
drawing for a free pie will take place at 9:26 a.m. this morning
followed by a second drawing for a free pie at 3:14 in the
afternoon.
