LinkedIn allows users to build a professional
identity online and discover professional opportunities. Users can
set up a profile and list their work history and skills. At Linking
Up with LinkedIn, attendees will learn how to create a successful
online profile to make professional connections, search for jobs and
learn about companies and individuals. One-on-one instruction will
also be available.
“LinkedIn is one of the largest social networking sites and is the
number one tool employment recruiters use to find people,” said
Coordinator of Career Services, Sara Baker. “Yet so many job hunters
don’t know anything about it.”
The network has approximately 347 million users with two new users
joining every minute. Users include everyone from students and
entrepreneurs to office workers and truck drivers. Some use the site
to look for a job, others use it to search for a mentor or get
information about trends in their current career or a different
career entirely.
With so many uses for the site, Baker adds the event is helpful for
anyone, including alumni, job seekers and those looking to make
professional connections or have a professional online presence.
