Obituary
James N. Percival, Sr., 71, of Armington, passed
away at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in
Armington.
Funeral services for Mr. Percival will be held on
Monday, March 23, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the
Armington Christian Church. Mr. Ed Loyd and Mr.
Keith Huff will officiate.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in
Stanford. Military rites to be accorded by Armington
Taylor-Eckhardt American Legion Post #913.

from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Armington
Christian Church and for one hour prior to the
service on Monday.
James Neal Percival, Sr. was born October 16, 1943,
in Champaign, the son of Ray E. and Eleanor Leaser
Percival. He married Dixie Billington on June 27,
1965, in Armington. She survives.
Mr. Percival is also survived by his children:
Derrick (Julia Schneider) Percival of Wetumpka,
Ala., Dionne (Andrew) Taylor of Oak Harbor, Wash.,
and James Neal (Cinda) Percival, Jr. of Armington;
one brother: Larry (Emma) Percival of Colorado
Springs, Col.; two sisters: Judy (Ron) Coomer of
Armington and Sharon (Ed) Krefting of Pomona,
Calif.; eight grandchildren: Veronica (Stefan)
Torres; Gabriel Percival; Sheridan (Dustin) Kearns;
Marissa, Michael and Jacob Percival; Raymond Taylor
and Christopher Barnett. |
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his
father-in-law: Harold Billington.
A 1961 graduate of Ganesha High School in Pomona,
Calif., Jim then served in the United States Army
from 1962-1965 as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne
Division. Jim retired from Caterpillar in Peoria
after 30 years and then was employed by the Olympia
school district as a janitor at Olympia North
Elementary School. He was a member of UAW #974 and a
past Commander of Armington American Legion Post
#913. He was a member of the Armington Christian
Church where he was called "the man with the golden
voice." Jim served the church as both Elder and
emcee of the Fourth Friday Jamboree for many years.
He and Dixie sang at many functions and also enjoyed
square dancing. They were members of the Atlanta
Shufflers and Morton Whirl-a-Ways square dance
clubs. Jim was an avid woodworker and sports fan.
Memorials may be made to the family, Armington
Christian Church or Armington Rescue Squad.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley
Funeral Home of Atlanta.
