T.J. Sapp and Jeffrey Moss each added 17 points as third-seeded
Murray State (29-5) advances to face top-seeded Old Dominion on
Wednesday for a berth in the semifinals. Jarvis Williams pitched in
with 15 points, while Wayne Langston and Jonathan Fairell combined
for 22 rebounds for the Racers.
Shaquille Harrison scored 15 points and Rashad Ray notched 14 for
No. 2 seed Tulsa (23-11), which shot 32.8 percent and missed 20 of
its 22 3-pointers. James Woodard added 13 points for the Golden
Hurricane, who trailed by 18 at intermission and never recovered in
the second half.
The teams combined for 29 points in the first six minutes and the
score was still close midway through the first half before Justin
Seymour, Sapp and Payne each made a 3-pointer during an 11-0 burst
by Murray State. Sapp scored eight points in the final 2 1/2 minutes
of the period to help the Racers take a 45-27 lead following a
session in which they shot 60 percent from the field and from the
arc (9-of-15).
Payne drained two more 3-pointers in the first three minutes of the
second half and Moss made one shortly thereafter as Murray State
pushed the lead to 23. The cushion grew to as many as 28 as the
Racers finished at 50 percent shooting overall and a sizzling
14-of-25 from long range.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Sapp (13 points) and Payne (12) nearly outscored
Tulsa by themselves in the first half. Payne also had six first-half
assists, while the Golden Hurricane had five in the opening period.
... Murray State has won 11 straight road games. ... Sapp and Payne
combined for 12 of the Racers' 20 turnovers.
