Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose participated in a
full-contact practice Monday for the first time since undergoing
knee surgery in February.
"He was a little winded, but we expected that," coach Tom
Thibodeau told reporters. "Overall I thought it was good."
Rose had a meniscectomy on his right knee Feb. 27 and was
expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
Last week, Rose said his knee was pain-free and he remained
optimistic about returning before the playoffs.
Rose is averaging 18.4 points and 5.0 assists in 46 games this
season.
---Houston Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley will have
surgery on his left wrist and miss the rest of the season.
The 26-year-old guard will undergo surgery Tuesday, ESPN.com
reported.
Beverley suffered torn ligaments in the wrist March 23 in a
victory over the Indiana Pacers. He saw a doctor in Houston last
Wednesday and sought a second opinion before deciding on surgery
Monday.
In his third year with the Rockets, Beverley is averaging 10.1
points and 3.4 assists per game this season.
Jason Terry, 37, will step in as the starter and Pablo Prigioni
will back up Terry.
