SPRINGFIELD,
IL: Lincoln Home National Historic and the Old State Capitol State
Historic Site invite the public to join us in commemorating the
150th anniversary of the funeral of Abraham Lincoln with a program
that honors his legacy on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., the
Old State Capitol State Historic Site in Springfield, Illinois.

The program will feature accomplished Lincoln actor, Fritz Klein,
who will provide a presentation on Abraham Lincoln’s commitment to
the idea that the United States was “conceived in liberty and
dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” The
program will open with a National Park Service Park Ranger whose own
story stands as an example of Lincoln’s vision for America.
The Springfield program is final of a national program series that
was held in the major Lincoln funeral cities as closely as possible
to the 150th anniversary date of the historic Lincoln funeral.
Beginning in Washington DC, the 16 day initiative included 24
programs in 15 cities. Some of the programs, including
Springfield’s, took place in the historic Lincoln funeral location.
Each program focused on Lincoln's vision for America as he expressed
it during his life, a vision that moved the nation from civil war
toward civil rights.
