[May 01, 2015]  ELKHART - Richard D. Lanterman, 83, of Elkhart passed away at 2:05 A.M. Thursday April 30, 2015 at The Villas Senior Care Community in Sherman.

Visitation: Sunday May 3, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski

Service: 12:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Obituary

Richard D. Lanterman, 83, of Elkhart passed away at 2:05 A.M. Thursday April 30, 2015 at The Villas Senior Care Community in Sherman.

Richard was born on June 24, 1931 in rural Logan County, the son of Earl L. and Jessie Oyer Lanterman. He married Marlene Curry on July 24, 1959 in Galena. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Lisa (Joe) Pelc of Sherman, IL and son, Stacy Lanterman of Elkhart, IL; Three grandchildren, Christopher D. Lanterman of Lincoln, Cory (Jenna) Pelc of Sherman, and Samantha Pelc of Sherman; two great-grandchildren and his brothers-in-law, Elwin Walker of Missouri and Frank Graham of Arizona.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Pauline Kruchten, Freda Walker, Earline Graham and his brother Scott Lanterman.

 

Richard was a farmer and the Elkhart Township Road Commissioner for many years. He was a life member of the Lincoln VFW post#1756 as well as the Elkhart American Legion. Richard was also a member of the Elkhart United Methodist Church. In his free time he loved golf, golf, and more golf at the 19th hole.

Services for Richard will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday May 4, 2015 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski with Rev. Darrell Howard officiating. Visitation will be Sunday May 3, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded. Memorial donations may be made in Richard’s name to the Lincoln VFW post #1756 or The Elkhart American Legion.
