Obituary
Dorrence B. Brucker, 77 passed away unexpectedly at
6:07 p.m. on May 1, 2015 at his home in Mason City.
Dorrence was born on November 16, 1937 in Normal,
son of Bernell and Dorothy Webber Brucker. He
married Gloria Luken on February 19, 1961 in San
Jose.
Dorrence is survived by his wife, Gloria’ three
daughters; Elizabeth (Bruce) Paton of Springfield,
Sarah (Lee) Benner of Broadwell, and Martha (Dennis)
Crum of Carleton, MI; five granddaughters; Abigail,
Allison, Emily, Kathryn and Anneliese, one brother,
Robert W. Brucker of Bloomington; one sister-in-law,
Beverly Brucker of Bloomington, and several nieces,
nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his
parents, and one brother, John.
Dorrence spent his early years in the Fairbury-Cropsey
area. He graduated from the University of Illinois.
Upon graduation, Dorrence spent 5 years with the
University of Illinois Extension Service in Lincoln.
He later served as a farm manager with the Sangamon
Valley FBFM for 37 years.

Dorrence was active in the Mason City community
serving in various capacities with the city and
school. He was a member of the University of
Illinois Alumni Association and was a proud and
loyal supporter of Fighting Illini sports, holding
football season tickets for 35 years. Dorrence was
also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a
Master Gardener with the Logan County Master
Gardeners and a member of the First United Methodist
Church in Lincoln.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9,
2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln
with the Rev., Michael Paulson and Rev. Larry
Maffett officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m.
to 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at the
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln and
one hour prior to services at the church on
Saturday. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m.,
Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Green Hill Cemetery, San
Jose.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to the Illini Central School Foundation (Mason
City).
