The backside of the historic Route 66 Mill
Restaurant on Washington Street made a great scenic backdrop for a
band to set up and play a few tunes. And that's just what some
talented Lincoln College students did with their afternoon on
Saturday.
While a monthly flea market went on inside, members of the Lambda
Chi Mu music fraternity conducted the free concert outside at 2 p.m.
Lincoln College Vocal Combo and the Gypsy Jazz plus Cody G-string
trio
prepared a two-hour set that included rock classics and modern pop
music.
This was not the musical ensemble's first performance at the Mill.
"We started the year off with a concert at the Mill -the Runner Ups-
in conjunction with the Route 66 Foundation Cruise-in last
September, and we wanted to close out the year with another concert.
We really appreciate Andrea Dykman and the Route 66 Heritage
Foundation for inviting us and letting us hold the concert at the
Mill."
The Mill is under restoration to become a museum with a tourist gift
shop.
