To the editor:In a recent letter to LDN a former mayor of Lincoln
wrote in support of one candidate while making this statement about
Todd Mourning: “I do not know the other candidate for Ward 3
			alderman.”

For her benefit and for others, I’d like to share what I know about
			Todd Mounring.

Todd is already serving as alderman and doing a great job. He
assumed his seat on the Council in January of this year and is
already making an impact. He works hard, he listens, and he brings
people together to positively improve our community. As an example,
Todd was instrumental in working out the recent compromise that
remedied differences between the car cruise-ins and downtown
merchants. For a flavor of how he approaches his service on the
Council, visit his website: www.facebook.com/vote4todd. He posts
video summaries after each Council meeting.

			Todd is passionate about serving people. Some politicians say that;
Todd lives it. His education is in physical therapy (he has
bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees). He is the manager of
Rehab Services for ALMH. In his profession his approach with people
is simple – listen to them, meet their needs, and improve their
situations. That’s who he is, that’s what he enjoys, and that’s what
he will do for Ward 3.

Todd is serious about leadership. He knows leadership is more than
talk, it’s about putting others first. He supervises employees,
implements quality improvements, and manages his department’s bottom
line every day. Memorial Health System recognizes his leadership
gifts and provides on-going development for him through their
Leadership Academy. Todd knows the best leaders ask the right
questions, listen, and then act in service to others.

Todd and his family are deeply invested in this community. They
moved here in 2003. Linda works downtown and their three children,
Tate, Levi, and Hattie, are all active, busy kids. Todd is a past
member of the City of Lincoln Planning Commission and supports and
coaches in the Lincoln Futbol Club. He and Linda have been
volunteers for “From the Ground Up,” and were honored as the Ward 3
Family of the Year for 2013.

Each election is ultimately about the future. This one is about the
future of our community. We don’t achieve our best future, the
future our city needs and the future our kids and grandkids deserve,
by going backwards or by being negative and obstructionist. We
achieve it by electing a positive leader who is passionate about
creating our best future together – that leader is Todd Mourning.

I encourage everyone to get to know Todd Mourning and to vote for
			him on Tuesday.

			Thank you,
			Keith Snyder [Posted
