Rodriguez passed Mays with a solo home run in the third inning.
After Rodriguez rounded the bases, the scoreboard made a brief
acknowledgment of the home run and he was given a short curtain
call.
First baseman Mark Teixeira drove in the other two runs with a
single and a double for the Yankees, who won for the 12th time in 16
games.
Designated hitter Jimmy Paredes and catcher Caleb Joseph hit solo
home runs for Baltimore. Joseph added an RBI double, but first
baseman Chris Davis struck out four times and shortstop J.J. Hardy
went 0-for-4 in his season debut.
Pirates 7, Reds 2
PITTSBURGH -- Slumping Andrew McCutchen had three hits and hard-luck
A.J. Burnett got his first win of the season on his sixth try as
Pittsburgh ended a five-game losing streak.
McCutchen, who won the National League MVP award in 2013 and
finished third in the voting last season, had just his fifth
multi-hit game of the season.
Burnett (1-1) went seven innings and allowed two runs and seven hits
while walking two and striking out four. Burnett, a 17-year veteran,
became the 41st pitcher in major league history to strike out 2,400
when he got losing pitcher Anthony DeSclafani swinging in the third
inning.
Reds third baseman Todd Frazier hit his National League-leading 10th
homer.
Twins 6, Athletics 5
MINNEAPOLIS -- Eduardo Escobar drove in two runs and Minnesota's
bullpen worked four scoreless innings to lead the Twins over
Oakland.
The Twins (16-13) won three of four games against the A's and are
now 12-5 at Target Field this season and three games above .500 for
the first time since the end of the 2010 season. Oakland (12-19) has
lost four of seven games on its current road trip.
Escobar broke a tie in the fifth inning with a two-run single to
right field off reliever Dan Otero. Twins rookie right fielder Eddie
Rosario also drove in two runs.
Dodgers 14, Brewers 4
MILWAUKEE -- Yasmani Grandal hit two home runs and drove in a
career-high eight runs as Los Angeles crushed Milwaukee at Miller
Park.
Grandal reached base six times, adding two walks and two singles.
His three-run homer in the eighth inning against Milwaukee
right-hander Rob Wooten was his third home run of the season.
Grandal added a three-run homer in the ninth against right-hander
Jonathan Broxton.
Dodgers left fielder Alex Guerrero's sixth home run of the season
led off the second and tied the score at 1. Los Angeles took a 3-1
lead in the third when first baseman Adrian Gonzalez drove in two
runs with a single to left. Milwaukee tied the score in the fourth
on a solo home run by first baseman Adam Lind and an RBI single from
center fielder Gerardo Parra.
Cardinals 5, Cubs 1
ST. LOUIS -- John Lackey gave the worn-down St. Louis bullpen some
needed rest, throwing a season-high 7 2/3 innings and posting the
18th double-figure strikeout game of his career.
Lackey (2-1) gave up five hits and one run while issuing a walk. He
left after his 109th pitch froze Chicago third baseman Kris Bryant
for a called third strike, Bryant's third punchout of the day.
Lackey also delivered help at the plate, foiling Chicago's two-out
intentional walk to center fielder Peter Bourjos in the fourth
inning with a first-pitch double down the right field line that
scored right fielder Jason Heyward. Bourjos also scored on an error
by right fielder Jorge Soler. Heyward went 3-for-4 with three runs.
Tigers 4, White Sox 1
CHICAGO -- Victor Martinez had three hits and pitcher Kyle Lobstein
allowed five hits in 7 2/3 innings as Detroit avoided being swept at
U.S. Cellular Field.
Martinez's third hit -- an eighth-inning single -- provided the
Tigers (18-11) with a two-run lead. Chicago (10-15) was looking for
its first series sweep over Detroit since 2008 and its first sweep
of its American League Central rivals at home since 2006.
Royals 7, Indians 4
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- First baseman Eric Hosmer hit a three-run homer
and third baseman Mike Moustakas went 3-for-4, walked and scored two
runs as Kansas City beat Cleveland.

Hosmer homered in the first inning against right-hander Corey Kluber
(0-5), who was yanked after giving up five runs, seven hits, two
walks and a hit batter in 5 2/3 innings. Left-hander Franklin
Morales (3-0), the second of six Kansas City pitchers, picked up the
victory with two scoreless innings.
The Royals' first six hitters in the order combined to go 11-for-26
and scored all seven runs. Hosmer, catcher Salvador Perez and
designated hitter Kendrys Morales each stroked two hits. Second
baseman Omar Infante added a two-run double in the bottom of the
seventh inning.
Rays 5, Rangers 4
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- An early five-run lead proved to be just
enough as Texas held off Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field.
Texas' four-run second inning that included two bases-loaded walks.
Rangers reliever Alex Claudio, who replaced starter Nick Martinez
with two outs in the fifth, posted his first major league win.
Claudio (1-0) threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
The fifth Texas pitcher of the night, Neftali Feliz, struck out two
in a perfect ninth inning for his fourth save of the season.
Astros 3, Angels 2
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Houston rallied with three runs in the ninth
inning to upend Los Angeles.
Angels closer Huston Street blew his second save chance in as many
nights, giving up all three runs in the ninth and squandering a 2-0
lead.
Jake Marisnick drove in Houston's first run with a single. Preston
Tucker, making his major league debut, added an RBI single, and Jose
Altuve's grounder scored Marisnick from third with the go-ahead run.
Diamondbacks 11, Padres 0
PHOENIX -- Tuffy Gosewisch had three doubles and a career-high four
RBIs, and Paul Goldschmidt and Mark Trumbo homered to lead Arizona
past San Diego.
Gosewisch, who did not have an extra-base hit in 72 at-bats this
season, doubled home runs in the first and third innings and added a
two-run double in the fifth as the Diamondbacks won their third
straight.
Goldschmidt hit his eighth homer in the third inning. He added an
RBI double in the sixth to back right-hander Rubby De La Rosa (3-2),
who gave up three hits and struck out seven in seven scoreless
innings.
Marlins 7, Giants 2
SAN FRANCISCO -- Dan Haren took a shutout into the seventh inning
and helped his own cause with his first two hits and RBIs of the
season, delivering Miami a victory over San Francisco.
Dee Gordon and Martin Prado each collected three hits, and Marcell
Ozuna belted his first home run of the year, helping the Marlins
begin the West Coast portion of their 10-game trip with an 11th win
in 15 games.
Despite giving up more hits than in any previous start this season,
Haren (4-1) won his third consecutive game. Haren was lifted for a
pinch hitter after the seventh, having allowed two runs on eight
hits. He struck out three and did not walk a batter.
