 Cubs 4, Mets 3
Highly rated rookie third baseman Kris Bryant christened the
reopened Wrigley Field bleachers with a two-run homer in the first
inning as the Chicago Cubs edged the New York Mets 4-3 on Monday.
First basemen Anthony Rizzo followed Bryant's blast with another
home run as the Cubs got off to a flying start and second baseman
Addison Russell singled home what proved to be the decisive run in
the fourth.
Left-hander Jon Lester (3-2) threw six innings of three-run ball for
his third consecutive win and closer Hector Rondon worked a
scoreless ninth for his seventh save as the Cubs won for the first
time in three games.

Yankees 11, Rays 5
New York starter CC Sabathia won for the first time in more than a
year and the Yankees hit a season-high five home runs in an easy
11-5 win over Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field.
Sabathia (1-5) earned his first victory since April 24, 2014,
despite allowing four runs (three earned) in seven innings. He gave
up six hits and two walks while striking out nine.

Orioles 5, Blue Jays 2
Manny Machado, Chris Davis and Adam Jones all homered, and Ubaldo
Jimenez threw seven strong innings as Baltimore celebrated its
return home from a long road trip with a 5-2 victory over Toronto.
Machado led off the first with a homer off Marco Estrada (1-2) and
the right-hander gave up a two-run shot to Davis later in the frame
for a quick 3-0 Baltimore lead.

Braves 2, Reds 1
Shelby Miller pitched seven strong innings and pinch-hitter Phil
Gosselin singled and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the
ninth, lifting Atlanta to a 2-1 victory over Cincinnati.
Shortstop Andrelton Simmons homered and Luis Avilan (1-0) earned his
first victory for Atlanta in a game that was delayed one hour and 40
minutes by rain.

Rangers 8, Royals 2
Texas starter Colby Lewis was effective once again and third baseman
Adrian Beltre homered in the Rangers' 8-2 victory over Kansas City
at Globe Life Park.

The Rangers, coming off a 5-2 road trip, opened their seven-game
homestand with a rare home win. Texas (14-18) entered the four-game
series with baseball's worst record at home. The win improved the
Ragers' home record to 4-9.

Pirates 4, Phillies 3
Gerrit Cole pitched seven strong innings, and Starling Marte hit a
three-run homer as Pittsburgh beat Philadelphia.
Cole (5-1) allowed two runs and six hits. He struck out six, walked
two and hit a batter. He also won for the ninth time in his past 12
starts dating back to last season, and improved to 5-0 in his last
seven road outings.

Brewers 10, White Sox 7
Back-to-back home runs by Elian Herrera and Khris Davis broke an
eighth-inning tie and led Milwaukee to a 10-7 victory over Chicago.
The late burst helped the Brewers overcome a rough outing by their
bullpen, which allowed a combined five runs in the seventh and
eighth innings.
Second baseman Scooter Gennett's error in the seventh helped the
White Sox battle back from a 6-2 deficit. Chicago scored three runs
after the error and tied the game in the eighth against right-hander
