Mets 2, Cardinals 1 (14 innings)
Pinch hitter John Mayberry's infield single with one out in the 14th
inning scored Eric Campbell with the winning run as the New York
Mets edged the St Louis Cardinals for their third win in a row.
Right-hander Carlos Torres (2-2) allowed one hit in two innings to
earn the win.
Neither starting pitcher factored into the decision despite
masterful performances.
Mets right-hander Matt Harvey allowed six hits and one walk while
striking out nine over eight shutout innings. He has thrown 16
consecutive scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 1.98.
Cardinals right-hander John Lackey allowed one run on three hits and
no walks and six strikeouts over seven innings. Lackey threw just 76
pitches but was lifted for pinch hitter Peter Bourjos leading off
the eighth.

Diamondbacks 3, Marlins 2 (13 innings)
The Arizona Diamondbacks spoiled the debut of Miami manager Dan
Jennings when they beat the Marlins in 13 innings and ended a

Mike Redmond was fired on Sunday, could not prevent Miami from
losing for the seventh time in eight games.

White Sox 2, Indians 1 (10 innings)
The Chicago White Sox withstood nine strong innings by right-hander
Corey Kluber and beat the Cleveland Indians on a walk-off double by
rookie second baseman Carlos Sanchez with two out in the bottom of

The win was the White Sox's sixth in a row, their best streak since
they also won six straight in August, 2013.
Cleveland's second straight loss spoiled a dominant start by Kluber.
Coming off an 18-strikeout performance in his previous start, Kluber
struck out another 12 and allowed one run in a nine-inning
no-decision performance.
