“With the 150th anniversary of the Civil War’s end behind us, this is an
appropriate time to reflect on other important moments in American military
history,” said Eileen Mackevich, executive director of the Abraham Lincoln
Presidential Library and Museum. “Our collection includes some fascinating items
that will help visitors connect with the past, and we’re always looking for more
material. Perhaps someone who attends these great events will be inspired to
make a donation.”
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum holds an unparalleled
collection of Lincoln documents, photographs, artifacts and art. It also has
some 12 million items pertaining to all aspects of Illinois history, making the
library one of the nation’s top places for genealogy and history research.
The library and museum opened April 19, 2005. For details on activities and
events celebrating our 10th anniversary, visit
