Logan County Paramedics among first to train at Memorial Hospital Critical Care School in Springfield

[May 23, 2015]  LINCOLN - The Logan County Paramedic Association, Inc. was recently given the opportunity to send some its paramedics to the first offered Critical Care School in Springfield.

LCPA sent five of medics, all of whom passed the course with a 100-percent rating. The 100-percent pass rate is far above the national pass rate statistics, which has been reported at under 50%.

Seven medics from America Ambulance in Springfield also took the course, and they finished with approximately 80% pass rate. Also very good indeed.

LCPA director Steve Siltman congratulated his team and hopes that others will as well. "Should anyone see any of these medics, please congratulate them for their achievement," Siltman said. "They have been studying day and night for the past eight weeks."

Siltman continues, "This is the first step in moving closer to our organization becoming a Critical Care Transport Agency. There are very few ground transport services in the State that will be offering this ability. Once all the requirements are met, we will be able to transport patients from hospital to hospital that previously had to be done by helicopter, or with an RN and/ or a Respiratory Therapist on board due to the high level of care that had to be accomplished. Our target date to begin CCT transports is September of this year."
