Obituary
Martin David "Dave" "Doc" Kvitle, 84, of Lincoln,
IL, passed peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2015 at
Springfield Memorial Hospital with his family at his
side.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28,
2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Jefferson Street Christian
Church in Lincoln. Rev. Henry Johnson and Mr. Walt
Zorn will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded
by Lincoln American Legion Post #263.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at
Jefferson Street Christian Church on Wednesday, May
27, and for one hour prior to the service on
Thursday.
Cremation Rites to be accorded following the funeral
service.
He was born on December 30, 1930 in Cambridge, WI to
Martin and Doris Walrath Kvitle. He married Shirley
"Ann" (Dennis) Kvitle-Bi on June 16, 1956. He later
married Janet Lewis Nagel Kvitle on July 8, 1989.
She survives.
Surviving are his sister: Ann (Ken) Kvitle Janecek;
sons: Kirk (Barb) Kvitle of Quincy and Scott Nagel
of Brooklyn, NY; daughters: Kim (Steve) Mitchell of
Dunlap, Karen (Ross) Giesler of Metamora, Kristie
(Neil) Goedhard of Renton, WA, LeAnn (Russ) Holmes
of Des Moines, IA, and Karen Nagel-Martinez of
Lincoln.
Also surviving are grandchildren: Thomas Mitchell,
Sarah (Kevin) Flannery, Jason (Courtney fiancée)
Kvitle, Emily (Chris) Peters, Hannah and Martin
Kvitle; Gretchen and Alexander Giesler; Tyler Nagel;
Emily, Cade and Elly Martinez; Lauren and Lydia
Holmes; Ava and Lars Goedhard; as well as many
nieces and nephews. |
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother
Eugene Kvitle.
Dave graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1948
where he played on the Wauwatosa High School
basketball team that won the Wisconsin state
championship two years in a row. He graduated from
Luther College in Iowa and graduated with a degree
in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State in 1955. He
was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Dave was called from reserve status (ROTC) and
served as a First Lieutenant in the Army as a Meat
and Food Inspector from 1955-1957. He was a large
and small animal veterinarian who owned and operated
Wes-Lyn Animal Clinic, Lincoln, IL , retiring in
1999, yet continued to serve animal and farm
families for several years. He was on the Logan
County Board of Health and served as a school board
member for West Lincoln School. He was a rabies
inspector for Logan County and was the veterinarian
for the Logan County Fair for many years. In
addition to being a loyal Railers fan, he was a
dedicated member of Jefferson Street Christian
Church and many other community organizations.

Church.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley
Funeral Home of Lincoln.
