The team said Thompson has been ruled out indefinitely. He will not
practice until he has been cleared.
Thompson threw up and experienced other "concussion-like symptoms"
late Wednesday night after he was unintentionally kneed in the head
by Rockets forward Trevor Ariza in the fourth quarter of Game Five,
his father, Mychal Thompson, told ESPN.
Thompson was initially cleared to return to the game by team
doctors. Thompson was originally diagnosed with a right ear
laceration and needed stitches, though he never returned to the
game. He started developing symptoms after the game.
Coach Steve Kerr said Thompson was at the Warriors' facility Friday.
"He didn't practice today, obviously, and we'll just fall on the
doctor's advice. He'll practise when he can practise," Kerr said.
"We're going to practise tomorrow. We have Sunday off, and so he'll
have the next couple of days and we'll re-evaluate."
Thompson could miss the start of the NBA Finals against the
Cleveland Cavaliers when the series begins Thursday night in
Oakland.

Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, who sustained a head contusion
in the second quarter of Game Four after a chilling fall over the
back of Rockets forward Trevor Ariza but returned in the third
quarter, said of team mate Klay Thompson:
"Thankful we have a week off between games for him to fully recover.
He took a nice little blow to the head, so (to) make sure we want to
be cautious and make sure that he gets the recovery time he needs to
get ready. Hopefully by next Thursday he'll be ready to go."

All signs earlier in the week pointed toward Scott Skiles being
named head coach of the Orlando Magic and the team announced his
hiring on Friday.
Skiles becomes the 12th coach in franchise history, replacing
interim coach James Borrego. The Magic had fired head coach Jacque
Vaughn in February and finished the season with a 25-57 record.
Skiles, who lives in the Orlando area, holds a 443-433 record (18-24
in the playoffs) in 13 seasons coaching the Phoenix Suns, Chicago
Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks.

Cavaliers forward Kevin Love, recovering from a dislocated left
shoulder, can decide to enter the free-agent market after the season
and explore his options despite his team being in the NBA Finals.
[to top of second column] |
Love, who is in his first season with LeBron James and the Cavaliers
after an offseason trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, can become
a free agent in July.
He was playing in his first-ever playoff series when he was injured
last month and underwent season-ending surgery. The timetable for
Love's return is four to six months.
Love, 26, has until June 30 to notify the Cavs of whether he intends
to exercise his player option for next season or become a free agent
this summer.

The Miami Heat and guard Dwyane Wade appear to be far apart in
contract discussions, and he is open to speaking with other teams
when free agency opens this summer, according to multiple reports.
Wade has spent his entire 12-year career with the Heat and prefers
to stay with the team, but he is seeking a better offer, the Miami
Herald reported.
The 33-year-old veteran has until late June to decide whether to opt
out of his current contract, which would pay him $16.1 million next
season.

Rockets center Dwight Howard has been suspended one game without pay
for collecting his fourth flagrant foul of the 2015 postseason, the
NBA announced.
The incident, which was upgraded from a common foul to a flagrant-1
foul upon league office review, occurred when Howard made
unnecessary contact with his forearm to the neck area of Warriors
guard Andre Iguodala with 3:35 remaining in the fourth quarter
Wednesday night.
Howard will serve his suspension in the first game of the 2015-16
NBA regular season for which he is eligible and physically able to
play.
