- Stephen P. Schmidt, 56, of Atlanta, passed away at 9:03 p.m. on
Thursday, October 29, 2015, at his home. |
Visitation:
10 to noon, Monday, November 2, at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Atlanta.
Service: Monday at 12 noon at the
church.
Funeral home: Quiram Peasley Funeral Home,
Atlanta
Obituary
Stephen P. Schmidt, 56, of Atlanta, passed away at
9:03 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at his
home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday,
November 2, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Atlanta.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
on Monday at the church prior to the service.
Burial will be at a later date at Camp Butler
National Cemetery in Riverton. Cremation Rites to be
accorded.
Stephen Paul Schmidt was born February 23, 1959, in
Ottawa, the son of Ina Hansen Tjelle of Lincoln and
Larry Schmidt of Mt. Vernon. He married Rebecca L.
Pankey on September 21, 1985. She survives.
Stephen is also survived by their children: First
Lt. Stephen P. Schmidt, Jr. of South Korea; Kelsey
Schmidt and Matthew Schmidt, both of Atlanta; two
sisters: Robyn (Howard) Brogan of Fairbury and Amy
(Jeff) Ward of St. Louis; and two brothers: John
Schmidt of Ransom and Donny (Keri) Schmidt of
Saunemin; and father and mother in law: Glenn and
Nancy Pankey of Clifton; and many nieces and
nephews. |
Stephen was a 1977 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey High School; a
1989 graduate of Illinois State University and 2004 graduate of
University of Illinois. He served in the United States Army from
1977-1981 as an Airborne Ranger. Stephen was self-employed as a
Certified Public Accountant and belonged to the American
Institution of Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.
He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Atlanta.
Memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center in Normal.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral
Home of Atlanta.
