CHESTNUT
- Verneil “Red” Bahn, 87, of Mt. Pulaski, formerly of Chestnut,
passed away at 1:10 p.m. Monday November 2, 2015, at Vonderlieth
Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, November 5, at
Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut

1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church

Obituary
Verneil “Red” Bahn, 87, of Mt. Pulaski, formerly of
Chestnut, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Monday November
2, 2015, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount
Pulaski.
Red was born on May 6, 1928, in DeWitt County to
Edward and Lydia Conner Bahn. He married Kathryn
Bergman on December 1, 1968 in Emden. She survives.
Also surviving is one daughter Renae (Rodney)
Williams of Edinburg, daughter-in-law: Christy Bahn
of Lincoln, four grandchildren: Jeremiah Williams,
Paul Williams, Jacob Williams, and Aaron Bahn, two
step grandchildren: Austin Catey and Ashley Catey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Austin
Bahn, brothers: Elmer, Albert, Leland, twin brother
Vernell Byron, and a sister; Erma.
Red was in the United States Marine Corp from
1952-1953. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church
in Chestnut. He was a mechanic at Stahl’s Implement
and later worked in maintenance at Vonderlieth
Living Center. |
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday November 5,
2015, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut, with
Rev. David Dunlop officiating. Visitation will be
from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to services at the
church. Burial will follow at Laenna Cemetery,
Chestnut where full military rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of
Chestnut, or Alzheimer’s Research Center.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski
is entrusted with the services.
