[November 05, 2015]  LINCOLN - On Wednesday, the Lincoln College Volleyball Team traveled to Lewis & Clark College for the first round of the Region 24 Postseason Tournament.

Lincoln fell in the match in four sets to end their season with a record of 20-14.

LC started off strong, jumping out to an 8-4 lead, but injury problems struck the team hard and caused the Lady Lynx to have to shuffle their lineup mid-way through set one. Frehman right side Colbi Schertz was sidelined in the match due to a shoulder injury and sophomore outside hitter Katie Jordan went out with a knee injury after diving for a ball early in set one. Jordan was unable to return to the match which meant back row setters Cassie Jennings and Ashley Robinson were put in front row positions much of the rest of the night.

After dropping sets one and two (25-18, 25-18) Lincoln regrouped and fought their way to a convincing 25-16 win in set three. LC kept the momentum in set four and built an early lead, but was unable to hold on and lost it 25-22.

LC Stat Totals:

Gina Moore 12 kills, 10 digs
Kenzie Cooper 7 kills, 15 digs
Cassie Jennings 14 set assists, 4 points
Lauren Wendt 7 kills, 4 blocks
Ashley Robinson 7 points, 13 set assists
Peyton Jones 5 kills, 3 blocks
Kayla Dierker 6 digs. 3 points
Aira Hanson 5 kills, 2 blocks
Brighton Robbins 9 digs, 3 points

LC Coach Mark Tippett: "We are certainly disappointed in the outcome of this match, but satisfied with the effort our team put forth. The loss of two front row players put us at a disadvantage most of the night in terms of blocking and offensive capability. I am extremely proud of the way our players rallied together and gave it everything they had to try to win. It would have been easy to give up going into set three, but they came out fighting and showed a lot of character in the way they continued to play hard. It's frustrating to go down without your full team on the floor, but that's the just part of the drama of postseason play I guess. Overall, it was another successful season, and I feel good about what this team was able to accomplish. I am confident that our sophomore class will go on to do great things in life, and I am excited about the talented players we will return from this team for 2016."
