NHL roundup: Zuccarello leads red-hot Rangers over Blues

[November 13, 2015]  NEW YORK -- Mats Zuccarello had a goal and two assists to lead the red-hot New York Rangers to a 6-3 win over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.

It was the seventh straight win for the Rangers, who are 9-0-2 in their last 11. The Blues had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Ryan McDonagh, Dan Girardi, Derick Brassard, Kevin Hayes and J.T. Miller also scored for the Rangers while Dmitrij Jaskin, Vladimir Tarasenko and Troy Brouwer scored for the Blues.

Avalanche 3, Bruins 2

BOSTON -- Matt Duchene scored his sixth goal in the last five games on go-ahead wrister midway through the third period to help Colorado erase a two-goal deficit and earn a victory over Boston at TD Garden.

Carl Soderberg, playing his first game back in Boston since leaving the team in free agency last June, and Francois Beauchemin also scored goals for Colorado, which is now 2-6-1 in one-goal games this season.

Zdeno Chara and Ryan Spooner each netted a goal for the Bruins, who opened their season-long five-game home stand with a loss.

Wild 3, Hurricanes 2 (OT)

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Jason Zucker scored his second goal of the game with 1:10 remaining in overtime, and Minnesota defeated Carolina at PNC Arena.

Zucker and Thomas Vanek scored earlier for Minnesota, which earned at least one standings point for the sixth time in seven game.

Justin Faulk and Andrej Nestrasil scored for the Hurricanes, who lost for the fourth time in five games.

Capitals 5, Flyers 2

PHILADELPHIA -- Washington generated plenty of offense to beat Philadelphia at Wells Fargo Center.

Trailing 2-1 in the second period, the Capitals scored four consecutive goals -- two from Jason Chimera and one each from Justin Williams and Nicklas Backstrom-- to seize control and secure their fifth win in the last seven games.

T.J. Oshie also scored for Washington while Scott Laughton and Claude Giroux scored the Flyers goals.

Senators 3, Canucks 2

OTTAWA -- Andrew Hammond made 33 saves as Ottawa snapped a two-game losing streak by beating Vancouver at Canadian Tire Centre.

Erik Karlsson led the Senators with a goal and an assist, while winger Bobby Ryan had defensemen Chris Wideman had the other goals.

Sven Baertschi and Alex Edler replied for the Canucks.

Lightning 3, Flames 1

TAMPA, Fla. -- Late goals by Steven Stamkos and Tyler Johnson helped Tampa Bay earn a win over Calgary at Amalie Arena.
 


The Lightning ended a three-game home losing streak and helped goalie Ben Bishop end a five-game losing streak. He allowed two goals or fewer in each of the five losses. Bishop made 30 saves to stop the Flames, who came in allowing the most goals in the league.

The Lightning's Brian Boyle and the Flames' Sam Bennett also scored in the game.

Maple Leafs 2, Predators 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- It took 65 minutes and five rounds of a shootout, but Toronto collected another impressive road win against a Central Division foe in Nashville.

Peter Holland tallied the only shootout goal for either team, James Reimer came up with 21 saves and Tyler Bozak scored in regulation for the Maple Leafs.

Pekka Rinne made 22 for the Predators, who got a regulation goal from Shea Weber.

Devils 3, Blackhawks 2

CHICAGO -- Sergey Kalinin scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period, lifting New Jersey over Chicago.

Kyle Palmieri tallied a goal and an assist for the Devils and Adam Henrique also scored for New Jersey, which earned its ninth win in the past 12 games.

Patrick Kane notched a goal and an assist and Artemi Panarin added a goal for the Blackhawks.

Sabres 3, Panthers 2

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Buffalo got its first win against Roberto Luongo since 2010 in a win vs. Florida.

Goals from Brian Gionta, Cody Franson and Sam Reinhart were enough for the Sabres.

Jonathan Huberdeau and Vincent Trocheck scored the Panthers' goals.

Stars 6, Jets 3

DALLAS -- Jamie Benn scored the game-winner with 5:55 remaining in regulation and Kari Lehtonen stopped 35 of 38 shots as Dallas beat Winnipeg at American Airlines Center.

Ales Hemsky had a goal and two assists; Vernon Fiddler, John Klingberg and center Colton Sceviour had a goal and an assist each, Antoine Roussel added a goal and Johnny Oduya and Tyler Seguin each had two assists for the Stars.

Ondrej Pavelec stopped 28 of 32 shots, and Blake Wheeler, Jacob Trouba and Tyler Myers scored for Winnipeg, which lost its third straight.
 


Coyotes 4, Oilers 1

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Arizona stormed back with four unanswered goals to defeat Edmonton.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Shane Doan, Stefan Elliott and Max Domi scored for the Coyotes, who won their third straight game behind 27 saves from Mike Smith.

Taylor Hall had the lone goal for the Oilers, who got 17 saves from Anders Nilsson.

Kings 2, Islanders 1

LOS ANGELES -- A fluke goal off the New York Islanders' Johnny Boychuk in the second period was the difference and allowed Los Angeles to capture a slim victory at Staples Center.

Milan Lucic was credited with the goal at 3:28 of the second, lifting Los Angeles to its 10th win in 13 games. Drew Doughty scored the other goal and Jhonas Enroth stopped 31 of 32 shots for the Kings.

Brock Nelson scored for the Islanders and Jaroslav Halak made 20 saves as the Islanders lost for the third time in four games.
