HR 839 is a resolution sponsored by State Representative. Steve
Andersson in response to the WHO (World Health Organization) article that classified
processed meat (including bacon) as carcinogenic.
An IPPA spokesperson said "We are grateful State Rep. Andersson
took action to support the Illinois Pork Industry and its
producers".
"Local producers Phil Borgic (Montgomery County), Mike Haag
(Livingston County), and Thomas Titus (Logan County) passed out
a meal of BLT's, chips, and water to Illinois House members.
This gave the Representatives an opportunity to talk with
producers and ask questions to real pig farmers.
"There was a great turnout of legislators and IPPA producers
really enjoyed talking to them. A big thanks to Keefner's
restaurant in Springfield for the meal. Just remember everything
is fine in moderation, including bacon.
