NHL roundup: Malkin leads Pens past Wild

[November 18, 2015]  PITTSBURGH -- Evgeni Malkin, a game after calling for improved play from his team, stepped up to heed his own words. He had two goals and two assists to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins past the Minnesota Wild 4-3 on Tuesday night at Consol Energy Center.

The Penguins, coming off of two losses in a row, also got goals from David Perron and Beau Bennett. Minnesota, which lost regulation for the first time in five games, got goals from Mikael Granlund, Mikko Koivu and Jared Spurgeon.

It was just the third time the Penguins reached the four-goal level this season.

Maple Leafs 5, Avalanche 1

TORONTO -- Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau scored two power-play goals to lead Toronto over Colorado.

Tyler Bozak added a power-play goal and two assists, Leo Komarov scored short-handed and James van Riemsdyk also scored a power-play goal for the Maple Leafs. Peter Holland added three assists.

Defenseman Erik Johnson scored for the Avalanche.

Blue Jackets 3, Blues 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Brandon Saad had his first two-goal game with Columbus, and Cody Goloubef scored his first goal in almost two years to beat St. Louis at Nationwide Arena.

The Blue Jackets earned a third consecutive win for the first time all season, and they improved to 7-5-0 under coach John Tortorella. They were 0-7-0 when Tortorella who took over on Oct. 21.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 19 saves for his seventh win, with only a Kevin Shattenkirk shot beating him. Brian Elliott finished with 35 saves in the loss, 20 of them in the second period.

Stars 3, Sabres 1

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Jason Spezza scored 7:35 into the third period to lead Dallas over Buffalo.

Valeri Nichushkin and Tyler Seguin also scored for the Stars and Antti Niemi made 24 saves.

Ryan O'Reilly scored for the Sabres and Linus Ullmark made 26 saves.

Sharks 5, Bruins 4

BOSTON -- San Jose continued its strong road start and sent Boston to another home loss.

The Sharks poured three goals past Tuukka Rask in a 3:25 span of the second period and then held on for a victory at the TD Garden.

Melker Karlsson, Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton Joe Pavelski and Joonas Donskoi all scored for the Sharks while Tyler Randell, Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and Loui Eriksson scored for the Bruins.

Kings 3, Flyers 2 (SO)

PHILADELPHIA -- Los Angeles forced overtime with a goal in the final minute of regulation before beating Philadelphia in the shootout at Wells Fargo Center.

Anze Kopitar was the only player to score in the shootout, while Milan Lucic knotted the score with 54 seconds remaining in regulation. Jamie McBain also scored for the Kings.

Shayne Gostisbehere and Claude Giroux scored for the Flyers.

Predators 3, Ducks 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Anaheim controlled play, but Pekka Rinne stole two points for Nashville vs. Anaheim.

Collecting 38 saves, Rinne led the Predators to victory at sold-out Bridgestone Arena.

Shea Weber, Miikka Salomaki and James Neal scored for Nashville, while Rickard Rakell and Mike Santorelli scored for the Ducks.

Flames 3, Devils 2

CALGARY, Alberta -- Matt Stajan and David Jones had a goal and an assist each and Calgary continued its dominance of New Jersey with a win.

It was Calgary's sixth-straight win over New Jersey dating back to Jan. 10, 2012. The Devils have not won in Calgary since a 1-0 overtime victory on Dec. 23, 2007, a span of five games.



TJ Brodie also scored for Calgary. Replying for New Jersey were right wingers Bobby Farnham and Jordin Tootoo. Karri Ramo made his ninth straight start in goal for Calgary and is 5-4 during that stretch. He made 18 saves. Cory Schneider stopped 27 shots for New Jersey.
