Obituary
Patsy Ann Jarrett Wilson, 80, of Lincoln passed away
at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at her
home, surrounded by her loving family.
Patsy was born on Friday, September 13, 1935, in
Indianapolis, Indiana to Eady May “Peggy” (McCoy)
and John D. Jarrett. She attended Mars Hill Grade
School and graduated from Ben Davis High School.
Following the footsteps of her older brother, Gene,
she graduated from Lincoln Bible Institute (now
Lincoln Christian University). Their younger
brother, Ron, also graduated from the same college.
Wanting to be a preacher’s wife since age 11, Patsy
married Robert Allen Wilson the day after graduating
from college and became the preacher’s wife of
Fowler Christian Church in Fowler, Indiana. They
also ministered to the Zoah Christian Church,
Scottsburg, Indiana and the Shively Christian Church
in Louisville, Kentucky.
Surviving are her husband, Bob, three daughters:
Elizabeth (Larry) Olson, Angela (Phil) Rogers, and
Christine (Ron) Litwiller, as well as her brothers
Gene (Alice) and Ron (Pam). There are four
grandchildren: Michelle, Rebecca and Moses Rogers
and Caleb Olson.
Music was a big part of Patsy’s life in that she
became the adult choir director of her home church
at age 16 and continued to lead choirs in the
churches her husband pastored as well as the
Jefferson Street Christian Church which she and her
husband helped start in Lincoln. She also sang in an
acapella trio while in college and led music for
many revival meetings.
In her senior year of college, Patsy served as youth
Minister of the Georgetown Church of Christ and
worked for the college and Merle Norman. |
Besides being a loving wife and mother, she was
employed by Lincoln Christian College first as
Traffic Manager of WLCC radio station and conducted
a live interview program five days a week, and then
became the Director of Recruitment for eight years
and then Assistant Director of Admissions for 19
years. In 1977 she began the Lincolnland Classic
Bible Bowl Tournament and coordinated it for 25
years. It was considered one of the very best in the
nation.
Patsy also team-taught Marriage Enrichment classes
with her professor husband for 30 years. Together
they did over 600 Marriage Enrichment weekends for
churches across the U.S. and in Canada, England, and
Africa.
Patsy also spoke for many women’s meetings in
churches, colleges, retreats, luncheons and camps.
She especially enjoyed encouraging others. She was
honored by Lincoln Christian University in 2014 by
being selected for the Restoration Award for Kingdom
Service.
Visitation for Patsy will be Friday from 4:00-7:00
p.m. at Jefferson Street Christian Church and also
from 9-11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 prior
to the service at 11:00 a.m. with Michael Mallick
officiating. Memorials may be given in Patsy’s name
to Jefferson Street Christian Church of Lincoln.
Arrangements were entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
