Obituary
Madeleine E. Sorenson, 91, of Lincoln passed away at
10:10 p.m. November 23, 2015 at Memorial Medical
Center, Springfield.
Madeleine was born December 18, 1923 at Arthur, ND,
the daughter of Hermann and Clara Bettermann
Timmermann. She married Woodrow K. Sorenson June 4,
1946 at Arthur, ND.
He preceded her in death October 26, 2011.
Madeleine is survived by her sons: Leland G. (Mary)
Sorenson of Pekin and Carter (Becky) Sorenson of
Princeton; seven grandchildren; twelve
great-grandchildren; two sisters: Louise Nelson of
Ayr, ND, and Lillian Trudeau of Bath, NY. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband, four
brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Sorenson taught school at Central School in
Lincoln for 17 years. She was a member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church of Lincoln, Mary-Martha Circle,
Musical Arts and Library Committee of the church;
member of Mu Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority;
Illinois Education Association and National
Education Association; and DeWitt - Logan Counties
Retired Teachers.
Memorial Services for Madeleine will be at 11:00
a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran
Church with Rev. Candida Turner officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial
will be at 2:00 p.m. at Camp Butler National
Cemetery in Springfield. Memorials may be given in
Madeleine’s name to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Services were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home, Lincoln.
