To the editor: About two weeks prior to the beginning of the
school year we were driving past Northwest School and looked at all
the construction that was still in progress.
We pulled into the parking lot just off College St. and were feeling
sorry for the students and staff who would have to work around such
a mess. At that point we were joined by the principal, Chris Allen,
and we expressed our sympathy to him about how difficult it was
going to be to start school under less than desirable circumstances.
He replied that it would be wonderful anyway and that the city was
going to come clean off the parking lot since it would be the place
where the children would enter the building via a path from Eleventh
St.
[to top of second column in this letter] |
He also explained what all the construction was about and then just
happened to mention that he and Mr. Froebe, Supt. of District 27
Schools, had been at Northwest waxing floors in order for the
building to be ready on time.
To say the least, we were so impressed that administrators would
give of themselves in such a way to insure that the students and
staff would have a good start to the year.
Kudos to Mr. Allen and Mr. Froebe!!! District 27 is fortunate to
have you.
