Obituary
Harold K. Westerfield, 86, of McLean, died at 8:36
a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Advocate
BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Atlanta on Saturday,
October 3, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Pham
officiating.
Burial will follow at McLean Cemetery in rural
McLean. Military Rites will be accorded by McLean
Burger-Benedict American Legion Post #573.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 2, 2015, from
5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic
Church. A Rosary Service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
prior to the visitation.
Harold Kenyon Westerfield was born May 9, 1929, in
Waynesville, the son of Ora and Alice (Hindman)
Westerfield. He married Dorothy Donovan on April 14,
1956, in Wapella. She survives.
Harold is also survived by their children: Kathleen
(Jeffrey) Hainline of Stanford, Sharon Alberts of
McLean, David (Rhonda) Westerfield of McLean, Steven
(Michelle) Westerfield of Waynesville, Alice Kay
(Brad) Lasswell of Williamsville, and Thomas (Becky)
Westerfield of Bloomington; 18 grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; one
brother: Gerald (Nancy) Westerfield of Heyworth; and
one sister-in-law: Sister Mary Kathryn Donovan O.P.
of Sinsinawa, Wis. |
He was preceded in death by one son: John Michael Westerfield.
Harold was a graduate of McLean High School and served in the
U.S. Army from 1951 - 1954. He was associated with Westerfield
Transfer until 1979. He joined Firestone-Bridgestone in 1973 and
retired in 1992.
He was a past member of the McLean Fire Department (Chief), a
former Boy Scout Cub Master, youth baseball volunteer, member of
the McLean Burger-Benedict Legion, and a parishioner of St.
Mary's Church in Atlanta.
His children and their families were his greatest pride and joy,
and he will be missed by all of them.
Memorials may be made to McLean Fire and Rescue Squad, McLean
Burger-Benedict Legion, St. Mary's Church or an organization of
the donor's choice.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral
Home in Atlanta.
