When the expansion is complete, The Christian Village will offer a
full continuum of care which will allow residents to stay on the
campus even if their healthcare needs change.
The $6 million campaign is well underway with lead gifts totaling
more than $500,000 from the Woods Foundation, friends of the
ministry and Christian Homes, Inc. board members, executive team and
employees. The Woods gift of $400,000 was made possible through the
generosity of Robert J. Woods and Joan Jarrett Woods through the
creation of the Woods Foundation.
The theme of the campaign, relating to The Christian Village’s 50
years of ministry, is “Founded in faith, driven by excellence, the
vision lives on.”
The expansion includes an assisted living home for memory care
residents, a new Rehab-to-Home wing, renovation of Hope Hall in the
nursing home and an update of the independent living garden homes
and apartments. Seventh Street will be permanently closed to allow
the nursing home and Rehab-to-Home wing to be connected.
Assisted living for memory care
A new concept in Assisted Living, a stand-alone garden villa will be
built with 12 private rooms, each with a private bathroom. It will
feature common areas including kitchen, dining, family room,
activity/computer room, laundry and beauty salon.
The garden villa is designed for individuals needing memory care who
wish to maintain an independent lifestyle but require assistance
with daily activities such as bathing,
dressing and medication reminders. These residents will be able to
remain active while also being safe. Residents will each have
personal care assistance based on their individualized care plans.
New Rehab-to-Home wing
The new Rehab-to-Home wing will provide transitional care for guests
who want to restore abilities they’ve lost after an injury, illness
or surgery.
Offering a spa-like atmosphere, the new wing will feature 20
private rooms, each with a private bathroom, and a separate dining
room for Rehab-to-Home guests. A new state-of-the-art therapy gym
will be built to accommodate both short-term guests and long-term
residents. Physical, occupational and speech therapy will be
offered.

Renovation of Hope Hall
“Hope Hall” (100 wing of the nursing home) will be renovated to
have private rooms, with private bathrooms, for long-term skilled
nursing residents. The updated wing will give residents the option
to have a private or semi-private room, with a private bathroom. A
spacious new entrance and lobby also will be added to the nursing
home to make more room for family members and volunteers who visit.
Update of independent living homes, apartments
The garden homes and independent living apartments, built decades
ago, are due for upgrades. These will include:
- New raised toilets & vanities in bathrooms
- Bathtub conversions
- New kitchen cabinets in Garden Home cottages
- Redesign of apartments to a more open concept
- Replacement of outdated lighting fixtures
The garden homes and apartments provide independent living residents
the opportunity to enjoy an active lifestyle with an array of
opportunities for socializing and companionship. Residents can
experience peace of mind, without the worry of home maintenance or
lawn care.
“This expansion will allow us to modernize the campus to satisfy the
new expectations of older adults today and those in the future,”
noted Tim Phillippe, CEO of
Christian Homes, the parent organization of The Christian Village.
“The way healthcare and services are delivered continues to change
as new models are invented. We want to stay abreast of these changes
and be the best.”
“We’re proud of providing the very best services in the area for
many years and want to continue this tradition,” he added.
Those interested in making a difference in the lives of older adults
