[October 08, 2015]  LINCOLN - On Wednesday the Lincoln College Volleyball team defended their home court with a three set victory over the Lindenwood-Belleville JV squad. LC built a six point lead in the first set, but had to survive a furious comback attempt by Lindenwood to take the set 25-23.

In set two, the Lady Lynx dominated the net and cruised to a 25-16 win. Lincoln kept things rolling in set three taking a 17-12 advantage, but again had to fight to the finish as L-B made a late run to tie the set at 24-24. The two teams traded sideouts up to 26-26, but a Lindenwood serving error and a block by freshmen Peyton Jones and Colbi Schertz sealed the win for the Lady Lynx 26-24. Lincoln improved their record to 12-9 on the year.

LC Coach Mark Tippett:

Our ability to block and control the net was a large part of why we won this match. The scores in sets one and three were close mainly because of mental errors on our side of the net. We had too many missed serves and defensive lapses which stopped us from putting them away when we should have. Lindenwood showed a lot of heart coming back the way they did in those sets, but our team kept it together when we had to to get the win. It's clear that when we don't do things to beat ourselves, we can be a very tough team to deal with."
