LINCOLN
- Due to the current budget impasse in Springfield, funding for
human service and public health programs is currently on hold. Local
health departments statewide are feeling the pinch and many are forced
to reduce hours and services due to current funding lags.

The Logan County Department of Public Health (LCDPH) is no different
and will be making operational adjustments to meet the current
financial challenges. Starting Friday, October 16, 2015, the
department will be closing its doors on Fridays at noon. By reducing
hours of operation, the department plans to decrease expenses to
make up for the current lack of funding.
Don Cavi, Public Health Administrator, states “the reduction in
hours is minimal and is only intended to be temporary to allow the
department to remain financially viable while the budget crisis
persists. Serving the public and assuring a healthy community is a
top priority and fortunately we will still be accessible to meet our
client’s needs by continuing operations for 90 percent of our normal
business hours.”
The reduction in business hours will not impact the number of
services that the department offers and the clinic will continue
operations as usual. “This is vitally important considering we are
entering the flu season and we want to be sure to meet the
vaccination needs for everyone.” Cavi states.
