In their opening match, the Lady Lynx faced the #4 ranked
Lincoln Land CC Loggers and went down in three sets (25-20,
25-18, 25-19).
Things did not get any easier for LC in their next match against
Parkland College who started the day undefeated (42-0) and as
the #1 ranked team in the NJCAA Division II.
The Lady Lynx did not back down from the challenge, fighting
hard in the first two sets, but still fell by scores of 25-13
and 25-11.
In set three, LC jumped out to an early lead and was able to
hold on to win it 25-22. However, in set four, Parkland ended
the match with a convincing 25-15 victory.
The final match of the day saw Lincoln win a thrilling
back-and-forth battle with Lewis & Clark College. LC took set
one 25-19, but let a big lead get away in set two and dropped it
25-22.
The loss sent Lincoln into a tailspin and they trailed all the
way in set three, losing it 25-14. In set four, the Lady Lynx
got their act together and were able to even the match with a
25-13 win.
In the deciding set to fifteen, Lincoln built a 9-3 lead, but
the Trailblazers kept fighting and managed to come back and tie
the set 12-12. Lincoln responded with some clutch serving and
defense to regain the momentum and come out on top 16-14.
Lincoln is now 16-12 on the year.

LC Coach Mark Tippett: In our first two matches of the day, we
hung right with two of the strongest teams in the nation. We
were in all three sets against LLCC and even the ones we dropped
to Parkland were not ugly losses. Taking a set from Parkland is
a rare event this season. They had not dropped a set in about a
month, so we can at least take away the knowledge we are capable
of doing more against them than just put up a good fight. The
Lewis & Clark match was frustrating because we looked so sharp
up until late in set two and then got into one of the worst
funks I have seen all year. For about a half an hour our team
could not do much of anything right. It would have been a very
dissatisfying way to end the day had we not been able to regroup
and take set four. In the final set, our players showed a lot of
heart and proved they can stay calm under pressure in order to
make the plays needed to win. Overall, I was proud of our effort
today and the way our players represented the program.
Lincoln travels to SWIC on Tuesday for their final Region match
of the year. A win will secure the five seed in the Region for
LC and a rematch with Lewis & Clark in the opening round of the
Region post-season tournament.
