MLB Note - Philadelphia Phillies Brown, Domonic
OF Domonic Brown was outrighted to the minors after clearing
waivers. He is expected to refuse the assignment and become a free
agent.
A highly touted prospect who made the National League All-Star team
in 2013 during his first full major league season, Brown flopped the
past 2 1/2 seasons. Brown would have been eligible for arbitration
this winter if the Phillies didn't remove him from the roster, and
the team wasn't prepared to pay him more than the $2.6 million he
made this year.
In 2015, Brown began the season in the minor leagues and missed the
last month due to a concussion. In between, he hit a subpar .228
with a .284 on-base percentage, a .349 slugging percentage, five
homers and 25 RBIs in 63 games for Philadelphia.

A's.
Venditte, who will not be eligible for postseason play with Toronto,
went 2-2 with a 4.40 ERA in 26 appearances for Oakland this year.
Pitching left-handed against left-handed batters, Venditte allowed
opponents just a .116 batting average, a .188 on-base percentage and
a .256 slugging percentage. As a right-handed pitcher against
right-handed hitters, Venditte posted an opponents' batting line of
.250/.328/.423.
-----------------------------------------------
MLB Note - Toronto Blue Jays Barney, Darwin
INF Darwin Barney was designated for assignment Monday to make
roster room after LHP/RHP Pat Venditte was claimed off waivers from
the Athletics. Barney batted .304/.333/.609 with two homers and four
RBIs in 15 games with Toronto. He also provided solid defense at
second base. He was obtained in a trade with the Dodgers on Sept. 13
to add infield depth after SS Troy Tulowitzki sustained a fracture
in his left collarbone the day before. Barney was not eligible for
the Blue Jays' postseason roster.

OF Eddy Julio Martinez signed with the Cubs on Monday, multiple
media outlets reported. The 20-year-old Cuban is expected to get a
$3 million bonus, according to MLB.com. It was reported earlier that
Martinez signed with the San Francisco Giants for $2.5 million a few
weeks ago. Some confusion was caused by the fact that he had more
than one agency representing him in negotiations. In the United
States, he was represented by Beverly Hills Sports Council, who
agreed to the deal with the Giants. In the Dominican Republic,
Martinez was represented by trainers Aldo Marrero and Amauris Nina,
who worked out the deal with the Cubs. MLB.com ranks Martinez No. 4
on its list of international free-agent prospects.

MLB Note - New York Mets Harvey, Matt
RHP Matt Harvey is still scheduled to pitch Game 5 of the NL
Championship Series despite a bruised right triceps.
On Monday, manager Terry Collins said he was concerned about the
swelling in Harvey's triceps, which occurred when Harvey was hit by
a ball off the bat of the Cubs' Dexter Fowler in Game 1. Collins
said RHP Bartolo Colon or LHP Jonathon Niese might start in place of
Harvey in Thursday's Game 5. Harvey completed 7 2/3 innings in the
Mets' 4-2 win in the series opener Saturday, but he described his
arm as "dented" by Fowler's blast. Later Monday, Harvey had a light
throwing session in the outfield of Wrigley Field. When asked about
his arm, Harvey told the New York Daily News, "It's good." He
expressed no doubt that he would be ready to pitch Thursday, if
needed.

couldn't."

-----------------------------------------------
MLB Note - Toronto Blue Jays Tulowitzki, Troy
SS Troy Tulowitzki was ejected from the Blue Jays' 11-8 victory over
the Royals on Monday between the seventh and eighth inning by plate
umpire John Hirschbeck. He disagreed with a third-strike call
against him in the seventh. "And there were other pitches that were
questionable," Tulowitzki said. "I'm walking out to the field and
he's looking at me, and I told him that wasn't a strike. It was a
quick trigger. Obviously, he was either holding onto something or
something was going on, but I didn't think what I did was going to
get me ejected from the game." Tulowitzki was 2-for-4 with a
three-run homer in the game.
