[October 22, 2015]  Oct 21 (The Sports Xchange) - The Columbus Blue Jackets fired head coach Todd Richards on Wednesday after the team's 0-7-0 start, replacing him with veteran coach John Tortorella.

General manager Jarmo Kekalainen said Tortorella signed a three-year contract through the 2017-18 season and will make his Blue Jackets debut on Thursday night when Columbus visits the Minnesota Wild.

The St. Louis Blues placed forward Paul Stastny on injured reserve with a broken right foot.

The team said Stastny will be re-evaluated in five weeks.

The Calgary Flames placed goaltender Karri Ramo on waivers.

Ramo, 29, who started for the Flames on opening night, was 0-3-0 with a 4.37 goals-against average and .879 save percentage in three games.

The San Jose Sharks recalled defenseman Mirco Mueller and forward Micheal Haley from the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League.

Mueller, 20, has posted one assist and a plus-1 rating in three games with the Barracuda this season. He made his NHL debut in 2014-15, recording one goal and three assists in 39 games with the Sharks.

The Chicago Blackhawks officially placed defenseman Duncan Keith on long-term injured reserve.

The 32-year-old Keith, the top defenseman for the Blackhawks, underwent knee surgery Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus and is expected to return in four to six weeks.

The New York Rangers assigned forward Tanner Glass to Hartford of the American Hockey League.

Glass, 31, has skated in two games with the Rangers this season, registering four penalty minutes. In 68 games with the Rangers over parts of two seasons, the 6-foot-1, 213-pounder has one goal, five assists and 102 penalty minutes. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
