[October 23, 2015]  Oct 22 (The Sports Xchange) - Tests performed display that Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell is in remission from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, the team announced on Thursday.

Farrell, 53, completed chemotherapy treatments earlier this month. He took a leave from the Red Sox on Aug. 14 when doctors discovered the cancer while performing hernia surgery.

The Red Sox announced earlier this month that Farrell would return to his post when healthy.

Bench coach Torey Lovullo served as interim manager in Farrell's absence and recently decided to return to the club in his previous role for the 2016 campaign.

Haren was a three-time All-Star and twice won 16 games in a season -- with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008 and Los Angeles Angels in 2011.

Kansas City Royals left fielder Alex Gordon suffered a bloody nose during off-day batting practice when he was struck by a ball off his own bat on Thursday.

Gordon hit a ball that struck the top of the batting cage and it ricocheted directly back at him and hit him in the nose. He was momentarily stunned and left bleeding before he exited the field for treatment.

The situation will not prevent Gordon from being in the lineup for Friday's Game Six of the American League Championship Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Kansas City has a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.
