BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Brendan Gallagher and Dale Weise scored twice each to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 7-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night. 

Torrey Mitchell, Max Pacioretty and Andrei Markov also scored for the Canadiens, who improved to 8-0. Goalie Mike Condon made 33 saves.

Matt Moulson and Ryan O'Reilly scored for the Sabres. Goalie Chad Johnson made 19 saves.

Bruins 5, Islanders 3

NEW YORK -- David Pasternak scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and Ryan Spooner was credited with an insurance goal shortly before the midway point of the third as Boston remained unbeaten on the road with win over the New York Islanders at the Barclays Center.

Brett Connolly, Joonas Kemppainen and David Krejci also scored for Boston, while Jonas Gustavsson made 23 saves.

Josh Bailey, Casey Cizikas and Thomas Hickey scored for the Islanders while Jaroslav Halak made 21 saves.

 

Lightning 4, Jets 3 (OT)

WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Ondrej Palat scored 36 seconds into overtime to lift Tampa Bay to a victory over Winnipeg.

Palat finished a three-on-one break with Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman to beat Ondrej Pavelec on the Lightning's 31st shot of the game.

Braydon Coburn, Cedric Paquette and Vladislav Namestnikov scored in regulation for the Lightning while Nikolaj Ehlers, Drew Stafford and Blake Wheeler scored for the Jets.

Capitals 7, Oilers 4

EDMONTON -- Washington extended its winning streak to five games at the expense of Edmonton.

The Capitals scored three straight goals in the second period at Rexall Place to pull in front for good.

Evgeny Kuznetsov led the way for Washington with three goals and two assists. Nicklas Backstrom, Marcus Johansson, Andre Burakovsky and Justin Williams also scored for the Capitals.

The Oilers, hoping to even their own record at 4-4, saw their three-game win streak come to an end and fell to 3-5. Benoit Pouliot, Rob Klinkhammer, Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored for Edmonton.

Flames 3, Red Wings 2 (OT)

CALGARY, Alberta -- Mark Giordano's second goal of the game with 1:48 remaining in overtime gave Calgary a win over Detroit.

During the three-on-three overtime session, Giordano took a pass from Johnny Gaudreau in the Detroit zone and deked Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard, who made 37 saves in the game.

Giordano finished with two goals and an assist. Gaudreau assisted on both Giordano goals. Joe Colborne also scored for the Flames while Gustav Nyquist and Brendan Smith scored for the Red Wings.

Kings 3, Hurricanes 0

LOS ANGELES -- Tyler Toffoli scored a pair of goals, sparking Los Angeles over Carolina before an announced crowd of 18,230 at Staples Center.

Toffoli extended his streak of goals to a career high four games as the Kings defeated the Hurricanes for the fifth straight time at Staples. Anze Kopitar also scored for the Kings, who captured their fourth consecutive win. Milan Lucic had two assists for Los Angeles and Johnathan Quick stopped all 40 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season.

Cam Ward saved 25 of 28 attempts as the Hurricanes, who have managed just two goals in the last three games, lost for the second time in three outings.
