SPRINGFIELD – Memorial Medical
Center will host an open house on Saturday, Nov. 7, to give community
members a close-up look at its new 115,000-square-foot patient care
tower before it opens.

The open house will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The
three-story tower contains 114 private rooms for cardiology,
orthopedic and intermediate-care patients and will open in
mid-November.
“Our new patient tower rooms were specifically designed to
complement the excellent care patients can expect to receive at
Memorial,” said Marsha Prater, senior vice president and chief
nursing officer of Memorial Health System. “The room design features
will help keep patients safe, increase the time that caregivers are
at the bedside and create comfortable accommodations for family
members and visitors who are so important to the healing process of
our patients.”
In addition to touring the new orthopedic unit during the open
house, the public will be able to check out the new components in
the nonprofit hospital’s expanded lobby, including the new coffee
shop, a business center and an expanded gift shop. The gift shop
will offer raffles, coupons and giveaways during the open house.
Visitors will be able to learn about volunteer and employment
opportunities at Memorial as well as view the recently expanded
surgery services prep area that opened in March. Memorial Child Care
employees will host an area for children’s activities.

Parking for the open house will be available in Lots 9 and 10, which are to the
south and southeast of the hospital’s main entrance, as well as the parking lot
of the Springfield Clinic First 800 building. A shuttle will be available to
take visitors to and from these lots to the main entrance.
