NFL roundup: Eagles QB Tebow tosses two TDs

In his final preseason bid to earn a job as the Eagles' third quarterback, Tim Tebow threw for two touchdowns Thursday as Philadelphia lost 24-18 to the New York Jets in East Rutherford, N.J.

Tebow completed 11 of 17 passes for 189 yards with one interception. Matt Barkley, Tebow's competition to earn the job behind Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez, went 4-for-5 for 45 yards with an interception.

Jets quarterback Josh Johnson ran seven times for 76 yards. He also completed seven of 12 passes for 82 yards. New York quarterback Matt Flynn finished 10-for-14 for 136 yards with two TD passes and an interception.

Buccaneers 22, Dolphins 17

Linebacker Khaseem Greene returned a third-quarter interception 98 yards for a touchdown, leading Tampa Bay to a win over Miami in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon completed 11 of 20 passes for 141 yards with one touchdown pass and two interceptions.

Both Dolphins quarterbacks who played -- Josh Freeman and McLeod Bethel-Thompson -- threw two interceptions and no touchdown passes.

Bengals 9, Colts 6

Kicker Tom Obarski booted a tiebreaking 28-yard field goal with 2:49 to play, lifting Cincinnati to a win at Indianapolis.

Mike Nugent kicked 41- and 35-yard field goals for the Bengals in the first half. Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri replied with a pair of 26-yard field goals in the second half.

Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron finished 15-for-28 for 219 yards. Cincinnati wide receiver Brandon Tate caught four passes for 77 yards.

Falcons 20, Ravens 19

Baltimore quarterback Bryn Renner's attempted two-point conversion pass for fullback Kiero Small was incomplete in the game's final minute, and Atlanta held on for a home win.

Renner threw a 10-yard scoring pass to wide receiver Daniel Brown two plays after Brown blocked a punt deep in Falcons territory.

Atlanta quarterback Sean Renfree went 10-for-15 for 75 yards and a touchdown, while newly signed teammate Rex Grossman completed four of nine passes for 41 yards.

Packers 38, Saints 10

Quarterback Brett Hundley threw four touchdown passes, two of them to wide receiver Myles White, and the Packers rolled to a blowout of the Saints in Green Bay, Wis.

Hundley hit on 16 of 23 passes for 236 yards, including a 77-yard connection with wide receiver Larry Pinkard.

Saints quarterback Luke McCown completed all five of his passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Jaguars 17, Redskins 16

Jason Myers, who won the Jaguars' placekicking job this week when the team dealt Josh Scobee to Pittsburgh in exchange for an undetermined draft pick, booted a 46-yard field goal with 3:32 remaining, lifting Jacksonville to a win over Washington at Landover, Md.

Myers made two extra points and missed a 56-yard field goal attempt.

Both teams played a single backup quarterback the entire game. The Jaguars' Stephen Morris was 16-for-25 for 160 yards and a touchdown, while the Redskins' Colt McCoy went 22-for-33 for 208 yards and a touchdown.
 


Titans 24, Vikings 17

Rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota threw three passes including a 59-yard touchdown to wide receiver Harry Douglas to propel Tennessee to 14 first-quarter points and a victory in the preseason finale.

Minnesota quarterback Taylor Heinicke went the distance and completed 27 of 41 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns as the Vikings lost for the first time in nine preseason games under coach Mike Zimmer.

Panthers 23, Steelers 6

Running back Jordan Todman's 49-yard touchdown run helped the Panthers build a 17-0 halftime lead, and Carolina cruised to a win at Pittsburgh.

Todman wound up with five carries for 72 yards. Panthers quarterback Joe Webb completed 17 of 22 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown.

Pittsburgh quarterback Michael Vick went 3-for-5 for 24 yards, and he was sacked three times.

Lions 17, Bills 10

Fullback Zach Zenner broke a fourth-quarter tie with a 3-yard touchdown run, and Detroit earned a home win over Buffalo.

Zenner gained 21 yards on 10 carries. Lions quarterback Kellen Moore went 16-for-22 for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Bills quarterback Matt Simms played the full game, completing 22 of 38 passes for 223 yards. Buffalo wide receiver Dezmin Lewis caught six passes for 81 yards.

Giants 12, Patriots 9

New England quarterback Tom Brady sat out on the night when his four-game suspension was overturned, and the Patriots fell to New York in Foxborough, Mass.

Giants kicker Chris Boswell's fourth field goal of the game, a 41-yarder in the fourth quarter, broke a tie. Boswell also hit from 34, 29 and 33 yards. Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski was good from 34, 33 and 50 yards.

New England's third-string quarterback, Ryan Lindley, played the entire game, going 22-for-45 for 253 yards and an interception.

Bears 24, Browns 0

The Chicago defense limited Cleveland to 147 total yards and forced three turnovers in a shutout win at Soldier Field.

Bears quarterback David Fales threw for two touchdowns while completing 14 of 18 passes for 131 yards. Chicago running back Ka'Deem Carey added 68 yards on 12 carries.

Cleveland quarterback Thaddeus Lewis went 14-for-20 for 100 yards with an interception.

Cowboys 21, Texans 14

Houston quarterback Tom Savage left in the fourth quarter with an apparent right shoulder injury, and the Texans fell to Dallas in Arlington, Texas.

Savage finished 18-for-29 for 135 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He was replaced by second-stringer Ryan Mallett, who threw two incompletions.

Running back Ben Malena's 5-yard touchdown run broke a fourth-quarter tie. Malena finished with 88 yards on 15 carries.
 


Chiefs 24, Rams 17

Kansas City topped St. Louis and capped its first unbeaten preseason since 1969 -- the year the Chiefs earned their only Super Bowl victory.

Quarterback Aaron Murray's 12-yard pass to running back Darrin Reaves snapped a 17-17 tie in the fourth quarter. Reaves finished with eight catches for 42 yards and 14 carries for 40 yards.

Rams running back Isaiah Pead gained 52 yards on 12 carries.

Cardinals 22, Broncos 20

Quarterback Logan Thomas completed nine of 10 passes, including a game-deciding, 59-yarder to wide receiver J.J. Nelson early in the fourth quarter, as Arizona won at Denver.

Thomas threw for 116 yards. Teammate Phillip Sims went 14-for-22 for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Andre Caldwell in the first quarter.

49ers 14, Chargers 12

Wide receiver Bruce Ellington caught a 70-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring, and San Francisco went on to edge San Diego in Santa Clara, Calif.

Third-string quarterback Dylan Thompson played the entire game, completing 17 of 25 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.

Chargers quarterback Brad Sorenson and wide receiver Tyrell Williams connected on a 63-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, but a two-point attempt that would have tied the game was no good.
 


Seahawks 31, Raiders 21

Quarterback Russell Wilson's lone pass of the game went for a 63-yard touchdown to wide receiver Tyler Lockett, and the Seahawks went on to beat Oakland in Seattle.

Running back Thomas Rawls gained 87 yards on 11 carries, helping the Seahawks piled up 224 yards on 31 carries.

Raiders wide receiver Seth Roberts made seven catches for 11 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown grab.
