Vasilevskiy had successful surgery Thursday to remove the blood clot
and treat a type of Vascular Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, general
manager Steve Yzerman announced Friday.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Karl Illig, director of vascular
surgery at Tampa General Hospital. Vasilevskiy is expected to fully
recover, the team said.
The 21-year-old Vasilevskiy played 16 regular-season games for the
Lightning in 2014-15, compiling a record of 7-5-1 with a .918 save
percentage and a 2.36 goals-against average with one shutout.
Vasilevskiy also appeared in four Stanley Cup playoff games.

The Detroit Red Wings re-signed veteran forward Dan Cleary to a
one-year contract.
Cleary, 36, has been with the team since 2005. He played in 17 games
last season, recording two points and six penalty minutes.
In 609 games with the team, he has 265 points (124 goals) and 299
penalty minutes. He also has played in 111 playoff games,
registering 49 points (23 goals) and 66 penalty minutes.

The Los Angeles Kings signed defenseman Christian Ehrhoff to a
one-year contract.
Terms of the deal were not announced, but the Orange County Register
reported last month that Ehrhoff and the Kings agreed to a $1.5
million contract.
Ehrhoff, 33, appeared in 49 regular-season games last season with
the Pittsburgh Penguins, collecting three goals and 11 assists as
well as 26 penalty minutes.

The New York Rangers hired former captain Chris Drury as director of
player development.
General manager Jeff Gorton said Drury will work with the hockey
operations department and the club's American Hockey League
affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. He also will help oversee and
evaluate college players.
The 39-year-old Drury spent 12 years in the NHL. He played four
seasons with the Rangers, the last in 2011, and was their captain
for three seasons.
During his career, the Trumbull, Conn., native skated in 892 games
with the Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres and the
Rangers, registering 615 points (255 goals, 360 assists) and 468
penalty minutes.
