[September 15, 2015]  Sept 14 (The Sports Xchange) - The Philadelphia Phillies placed second baseman Cesar Hernandez on the 60-day disabled list on Monday, one day after he dislocated his left thumb in a game against the Chicago Cubs.

The season-ending injury occurred when Hernandez collided with Chicago's Anthony Rizzo. Hernandez is slated to meet with a hand specialist to determine the severity of the injury.

New York Mets outfielder/first baseman Michael Cuddyer returned to the starting lineup for the first time since Sept. 1. A sore right wrist limited him to five plate appearances in the last 11 games

Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton (broken left hamate bone) took batting practice before Monday's game. Stanton, who was injured June 26, will be with the Marlins throughout a seven-game road trip that began Monday. Manager Dan Jennings said he hopes Stanton can return this season.

Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura said there are currently no plans to shut down ace Chris Sale to save wear and tear on his arm. Sale, who could make four more starts, has an outside chance to record 300 strikeouts this season. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
