Lincoln College Women's Volleyball

[September 29, 2015]  LINCOLN - Over the weekend, the Lincoln College Volleyball Team traveled south for three matches and returned without a win. LC played at Lewis & Clark College on Friday evening and dropped the match in four sets 26-28, 17-25, 25-22, 22-25.

 The loss evened their record against Region 24 teams at 2-2. On Saturday, the Lady Lynx participated in a triangular set of matches at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL. Lincoln was down two starters at this event due to an injury and a personal schedule conflict. As a result, the team was not very competetive in their match against the host school, going down to KC 11-25, 22-25, 12-25. Their second match of the day was against Mineral Area College from Missouri. In this one the team put up more of a fight, but still fell in three sets 18-25, 15-25, 24-26. Lincoln's record on the year now stands at 7-7.

LC Coach Mark Tippett:

"The Lewis & Clark loss hurts because a win there would have put us in good position to get a home match for the first round of the post season tournament. The match was especially frustrating because we were up on them throughout the first set, but never quite able to put them away.

"We let them off the hook a couple of times with missed serves and they made us pay by coming back and stealing the first set from us. We also let a big early lead get away in set four.

"We are certainly capable of beating L&C, and I look forward to a rematch with them at the Conference tournament.

"On Saturday, we had to use a new lineup that had a couple of players playing out of position. This made it hard for us to compete against two very strong opponents.

"I was proud of the spirit our players showed and the way they continued to play hard despite being behind most of the day. We should get back to full strength this week and will hopefully be able to pick up where we left off before this weekend."

Lincoln plays at Millikin on Tuesday evening.
