Berra died of natural causes at his home in New Jersey, according to
Dave Kaplan, the director of the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning
Center. The Yankees wore No. 8 patches on their sleeves Wednesday
night in Toronto against the Blue Jays in memory of Berra.
A stalwart of the New York Yankees' dynasty from the late 1940s to
the early 1960s, Berra earned a major league record 10 World Series
championship rings during his 18 seasons in the Bronx. The Hall of
Famer was selected the American League's Most Valuable Player in
1951, 1954 and 1955, and he made the AL All-Star team every season
from 1948 to 1962.

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Zach Greinke was scratched from his
scheduled start on Wednesday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks
because of soreness in a calf.
Greinke, the major league ERA leader at 1.65 this season, has won
five consecutive starts and has an 18-3 record with 185 strikeouts
in 207 2/3 innings.

The Houston Astros recalled first baseman Jon Singleton from
Triple-A Fresno to bolster their left-handed power off the bench.

Singleton hit .254 with 22 home runs and 83 RBIs in 102 games with
Fresno, which defeated Columbus on Tuesday night for the Triple-A
championship.

Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was given the day off to
rest a lower back ailment, manager Brad Ausmus said.
Ausmus is hopeful that by holding Cabrera out, coupled with
Thursday's schedule day off, he will be available this weekend
