LINCOLN
- Women take care of their families oftentimes to the point of
ignoring their own physical, spiritual and/or emotional needs. On April
15th, at 5:30 p.m., the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and
the Healthy Communities Partnership hopes to remind ladies of Logan
County that you can’t take care of others unless you are taking care of
yourself. And so, for the third year, ALMH is hosting “Ladies Night
Out”.

Ladies Night Out is about celebrating healthy lifestyles for women,
embracing the influence women have on their families and providing
education.
This year’s event will host keynote speaker, Chef Ken Myska. Myska
is the owner/operator/farmer of the farm-to-fork restaurants
Epiphany Farms and Anju Above in Bloomington, Illinois. Chef Myska
earned his degree in Hospitality Management from the University of
Nevada in Las Vegas, worked in elite kitchens of renowned hotels.
Chef Myska will discuss food sustainability, our food system, the
seasonality of food, and explain why farm-to-table cuisine is fresh,
healthy, and delicious.
Between the hors d’oeveres, and desserts the evening will also
provide to breakout sessions. Andrea Sheley, a Nurse Practioner with
Memorial Physician Services, will discuss which numbers you should
know to keep track of your health. Nicole Florence, MD, Medical
Director of the Memorial Weight Loss and Wellness Center, will also
provide a breakout session focusing on women advocating for their
health.

“Women have a tremendous impact on their families but they can’t forget to take
care of themselves. Our Ladies Night Out event puts the focus back on them,
provides education and inspiration, and the opportunity to enjoy a night out,”
said Healthy Communities Partnership manager Angela Stoltzenburg.
