NHL roundup: Oilers close Rexall Place with a win

 EDMONTON, Alberta -- In the house that Wayne Gretzky built, Leon Draisaitl provided the exclamation point.

Draisaitl's third-period, power-play goal, scored at 18:03, went down as the final goal scored in the history of Rexall Place. The Oilers beat the Canucks 6-2 in the last game ever played at the 42-year-old arena.

Patrick Maroon scored twice and Taylor Hall, Nail Yakupov and Connor McDavid also scored for the Oilers, who got 25 saves from Cam Talbot.

Matt Bartkowski and Bo Horvat scored for the Canucks.

Blue Jackets 5, Maple Leafs 1

TORONTO -- Brandon Dubinsky scored two goals, including the go-ahead marker late in the second period, and Columbus went on to defeat Toronto.

Brandon Saad, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Matt Calvert also scored for the Blue Jackets. Saad and Calvert each added an assist and Cam Atkinson had two assists. Morgan Rielly scored for Toronto.

Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 26 shots in the Columbus goal and Toronto's Garret Sparks made 27 saves.

Red Wings 3, Flyers 0

DETROIT -- Jimmy Howard made 30 saves for the shutout, and Detroit beat Philadelphia to move closer to their 25th consecutive Stanley Cup playoff appearance.

The Red Wings are third in the Atlantic Division, two points ahead of the fourth-place Boston Bruins and two points ahead of the Flyers. Philadelphia holds the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and has a game in hand.

The Red Wings, who can clinch a playoff berth with any kind of win at Boston on Thursday, got goals from Darren Helm, Andreas Athanasiou and Kyle Quincey.
