[April 07, 2016]    April 6 (The Sports Xchange) - Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson left Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays after he limped out of the box on a ground ball in the seventh inning.

The Blue Jays shifted second baseman Darwin Barney to third base and inserted Ryan Goins in at second to replace Donaldson, who had hit a three-run homer in the third inning.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said after the 5-3 loss that Donaldson has a strained calf and is day to day.

The Seattle Mariners outrighted catcher Rob Brantly to Triple-A Tacoma.

Brantly, 26, was designated for assignment on Sunday when the Mariners set their Opening Day roster.

The Mariners had claimed Brantly off waivers from the Chicago White Sox on March 12.

Span had gone 3-for-8 with a home run, five RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base in the first two games of the season.
