[April 16, 2016]  Spring is here and nature is blooming at Sugar Grove Nature Center. It’s time to get out and enjoy what Mother Nature has for us. Sugar grove will feature programs in April geared for a variety of age groups.

Little Wonders: Earth Day Celebration
Ages 3-5 with an adult chaperone.
Wednesday, April 20, 10:00-11:30 a.m. or 1:00-2:30 p.m.

Kids and their adult chaperones will discover the wonders of nature in this hands-on, interactive class. A snack will accompany story time and a fun craft will be created.

A fee is charged with discounts available for members. Adult chaperone required. Registration and prepayment required by the Sunday before the program.

Homeschool: Earth Day Excursion
Ages 6-8; Thursday, April 21; 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Ages 9 -12; Thursday, April 21; 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Head out on the trails of the forest and prairie to experience nature in springtime while you learn why our planet is so special and what we can do to keep it health. A snack will be served and a craft will be created. This is a drop-off program.

A fee is charged with discounts available for members. Registration and payment required by April 14.

Campfire Program: Earth Day Celebration
Friday, April 22; 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Celebrate Earth Day by eating s’mores around a campfire! Play nature games and learn what you can do to help keep planet Earth healthy! A fee is charged with discounts available for members. Registration and payment required by April 20.

A Toast to Nature: Fungus in the Forest
Saturday, April 23; 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Ages 21 and up.

Join biologist Bethany Evans-Campbell to discover more about the important roles of fungi in our ecosystems. Walk through the forest to observe various fungi while learning about these unique organisms that occur all around us. Enjoy learning about some peculiar types of fungi in our area and where to look for them while enjoying a beverage produced with the help of a fungus (beer, wine, or kombucha).

If you have a favorite beverage bring it along, and/or sample what we have on hand.
