St. John UCC, ReNew Thrift & Consignment and Logan Lanes team up for fundraiser for Narcan Kits

[April 19, 2016]   LINCOLN - The St. John United Church of Christ Outreach program is working with ReNew Thrift and Consignments as well as Logan Lanes in Lincoln to bring two fundraisers to the community to assist in purchasing Narcan kits to be given to local first responders.

At the ReNew Thrift and Consignment all the month of April and recently extended to the end of May, items may be brought into the store and designated that if they sell, the store will donate 60 percent of the sale price to the Narcan Fundraiser.

Items donated for the fundraiser will specially marked on the tag, so shoppers will see that their dollars spent will be invested in a worthwhile local project.

Narcan is a Herion overdose reversal medication that can be dispensed by local first responders such as members of the Police, Sheriff, or fire departments. This drug is proven to save lives, and is an important part of the battle against Heroin deaths in our community.

Logan Lanes Bowling Party

Logan Lanes Bowling Alley in Lincoln is also partnering with St. John UCC for a special bowling event on Sunday May 15th.

This family friendly event will be open to the public, and bowlers of all ages can come out and enjoy a good time between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Logan Lanes has pledged to give 50 percent of the proceeds to the Narcan Fundraiser.

There will also be a 50/50 drawing and a Bake Sale that evening, sponsored by the Outreach and Publicity Ministry of St. John UCC.

The proceeds from both of these fundrasiers will be given to the Logan County Department of Health in Lincoln, who will in turn purchase the kits for distribution to first responders. The LCDPH has been searching for the best price option for these kits and now have found a supplier that will sell the kits for around $100 each. One kit includes two doses of the needed drug. First responders may administer the first dose, then wait to see if it produces the desired effect. If not the second dose may then be administered.
