The Eagles are expected to take either Cal's Jared Goff or fellow
quarterback Carson Wentz of North Dakota State, depending on who the
Los Angeles Rams want at No. 1 when the draft begins on April 28.
The Rams made a blockbuster trade last week with the Tennessee
Titans.
The Browns get Philadelphia's 2016 first-round pick (No. 8 overall)
and the Eagles' third-round (77th) and fourth-round (100th) picks
this year. Cleveland also gets Philadelphia's first-round pick in
next year's draft and the Eagles' 2018 second-round pick.
The Eagles get Cleveland's 2016 first-round pick (No. 2 overall) and
a conditional fourth-round pick from the Browns in the 2017 draft.
Howie Roseman, the executive vice president executive of football
operations, confirmed the Eagles will draft a quarterback with the
second pick and said they are "comfortable" with either Goff or
Wentz.
Roseman, owner Jeffrey Lurie and head coach Doug Pederson met with
starting quarterback Sam Bradford to inform him of the trade, and
Roseman said Bradford, signed to a two-year, $34 million contract
this offseason, will not be traded.

The Carolina Panthers removed the franchise tag on cornerback Josh
Norman, clearing the way for him to become an unrestricted free
agent.
"After a number of conversations with Josh's agent, we realized that
a long-term deal was not attainable," Panthers general manager Dave
Gettleman said.
The 28-year-old Norman finished 2015 with a career-best four
interceptions and was named to the Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro.

Johnny Manziel lost his job, two agents and an endorsement deal with
Nike, and by the end of next week a Dallas grand jury reviewing
family violence charges against the former Browns quarterback should
be finalized.
"I'm hoping to take care of the issues in front of me right now, so
I can focus on what I have to do if I want to play in 2016," Manziel
said in a statement Tuesday night.
Manziel, 23, was released in March by the Browns after two seasons.
He's currently an unsigned free agent but has been a regular in
off-field headlines.
Most recently, he was accused of trashing a rental house in West
Hollywood around the same time his latest agent, Drew Rosenhaus,
presented an ultimatum to either enter rehab or find a new agent.

After making adjustments to kickoffs in the name of player safety
the past two offseasons, the NFL could be close to eliminating
kickoffs entirely, according to New York Giants co-owner John Mara.
[to top of second column] |
Last month at the league meetings, the NFL adopted on a one-year
trial basis to move the touchback after kickoffs to the 25-yard line
in an attempt to limit the number of returns after injuries rose on
the play in 2015.
Mara has been a competition committee member for 16 years.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who tossed 21 touchdowns but
16 interceptions in the first season under offensive coordinator
Kyle Shanahan's system, is looking for improvements in Year 2.
Ryan, who turns 31 next month, said he is "excited" to have Shanahan
back during the offseason workout program.
"I'm glad to be in Year 2 of this system," Ryan said Tuesday. "I
think we've learned a lot in Year 1 - a lot about each other, a lot
about the guys we have in our locker room, a lot about what we can
be and a lot about what we don't need to be."

The Falcons re-signed guard Chris Chester, who started all 16 games
last season.
Chester, 33, started at right guard for the Falcons in 2015 and
helped block for the seventh-best offense in the NFL.

Former Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer is expected to make
his decision soon after visiting with the New York Jets.
According to ESPN, the 30-year-old Hoyer met with the Jets on
Tuesday night and was meeting with coaches on Wednesday.
Four or five other teams reportedly are interested in talking to
Hoyer, who was released by Houston on Monday.
