A few memories of 2016 Hartem Prom

 

[April 25, 2016]  The Grand March, followed by dinner and dancing, all took place at the Emden Community House. This was the first time the Grand March was able to take place there. For the past few years weather pushed the March indoors and it was held at the Hartsburg gymnasium.

Amazingly, this evening could not have been more perfect with sunny skies, little to no wind and gentle 70 degree temperatures.

Philip and Britta Langley prepared the fantastic dinner that featured hot and cold hor d'oeuvres, salad bar, ribeye steak or chicken, green beans, rolls, baked potato bar, dessert bar with a chocolate fountain, cake pops, cupcakes, and drinks.

Dining was elegant. Danielle Horn Young created a hand-made chandelier that was hung from the center of the ceiling. Jennifer Hayes and some students made the tulle ceiling. Maddy Shawgo made the artistic Hollywood sign on the stage.

Hartem history teacher, Mr. Mike Muntz, knows how to mix it up and have fun when it comes to students and music, and was requested to serve as DJ.

One of the great prizes at the end of the Prom were movie tickets donated by David Lanterman to the brand new Lincoln Theater Grand 8.

 

Years from now, prom goers will always remember town as it was this night. When waxing nostalgic in years to come, they'll talk about what businesses were where and who owned them remember, and always a favorite marker in small towns, the water tower.

Speaking of history, one couple drove away in this
1967 Chevelle Supersport (the orange car) from the Prom March and proceeded to “cruise.” Drew Wenninger was the owner of the classic with a 396 big block engine.
